How to Submit Book Proposals
Criminal Justice Press is an independent publishing company specializing in non-fiction books intended for
academic and professional markets in criminology. We do not publish fiction or "true crime" (journalistic)
works. Most of our books are purchased as textbooks for undergraduate and graduate students, and as reference
guides for scholars, libraries and criminal justice professionals. Our authors typically are criminology scholars
or senior administrators in criminal justice agencies.
Book proposals sent to Criminal Justice Press should be concise (1-3 pages) and should include:
(1) the main topic(s) and/or themes to be covered and their importance;
(2) a list of chapters;
(3) methods and data employed in the analysis (if applicable);
(4) approximate length of the manuscript;
(5) date of submission of the manuscript;
(6) comparison of your book to other books on the same subject;
(7) discussion of the market(s) that would be expected to purchase this book.
If sample chapters are available, it is recommended that they be enclosed with your proposal. It is also recommended
that the proposal be accompanied by a curriculum vitae for each author. If any of the material is to be returned,
please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
Please MAIL the proposal to Criminal Justice Press, PO Box 249, Monsey, NY 10952 USA. Note: e-mail attachment files
are generally NOT opened (except by prior arrangement).
Thank you.
