Delinquency in an International Perspective: The International Self-Reported Delinquency Study
Josine Junger-Tas, Ineke Haen, Marshall and Dennis Ribeaud
(Paperback)
2003, 197 pages
ISBN: 90-6299-196-3
$30.00

This monograph analyzes and interprets data from the U.S. and 10 European countries that was collected for the landmark International Self-Reported Delinquency study in the 1990s. In addition to exploring the challenges of cross-national research, the findings illuminate: the linkages among delinquency, age and gender; patterns of drug use and crime; social bonding, delinquency and problem behavior; and social responses to delinquent behavior. The conclusions center on comparative delinquency rates, social responses to delinquency in diverse nations, policy implications of the findings, and methodological issues.

This book provides an innovative and outstanding contribution to the development of cross-national research and self-reported delinquency. It should be highly recommended to criminologists and delinquency researchers as well as post-graduate students." Catherine Blaya, International Criminal Justice Review

"...this is a very good book, highly recommended for anyone wishing to undertake cross-cultural and international comparative work. It is also worth reading for those seeking knowledge about youth crime and attempting to understand its prevalence and source. It is an excellent book for senior-level undergraduates and graduate students interested in youth crime from an international perspective." Sandra J. Bell, International Journal of Comparative Criminology
