Dragan Milovanovic is Professor of Criminal Justice at Northeastern Illinois University. He has written over 15 books and numerous articles on critical criminology and law from a postmodern perspective, and he serves as Editor of the International Journal for the Semiotics of Law. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Division on Critical Criminology of the American Society of Criminology for his research and service in criminology and law. Praise for the new edition: "Sophisticated yet subtle, insightful yet accessible, this is THE reference book for understanding theoretical developments in the sociology of law. Milovanovic covers all the major movements as well as all the emerging strains of thought with clear, lucid and compelling prose, and always with a critical command of law's performative power in society and in our lives." Prof. Bruce Arrigo, University of North Carolina at Charlotte "Professor Milovanovic's text indeed has taste and flavor; it is well worth reading for undergraduates, graduates and law students alike."
